Yaskawa VFD Air Handler Retrofit Case Study

This document describes how a 100-bed psychiatric hospital in Orlando, Florida resolved comfort and efficiency issues by replacing faulty inlet vortex vanes with Yaskawa variable frequency drives (VFDs) on an air handler. The upgrade resulted in a 221,400 kWh annual energy reduction, improved humidity and temperature control, and achieved an 11-month payback on the $15,000 investment.
